PENAMPANG: The United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO) is gaining strength on a daily basis, membership wise.

It is getting about 14 new applications per day to join the party in the last three months, said Information Chief Albert Bingkasan, adding UPKO received 1,305 new applications from May to July this year.

“That’s an average of about 435 per month or 14 per day. The UPKO Supreme Council approved the applications during our meeting last Friday. Membership wise, UPKO is getting stronger every day,” he said.

“There are many more applications but as per our standard operating procedures, the respective divisions would have to screen each form before submitting for approval,” he said.

“There is no doubt more and more people especially from the Momogun communities are joining UPKO,” he said adding, “the applicants are from all walk of life – opposition political party leaders, professionals and young people.”
