PUTRAJAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Liew Vui Keong claimed his written reply in Parliament pertaining to an allegation that Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has RM230 million cash in asset was twisted by certain news portals.
“I was misquoted with regard to my remarks in Parliament. I did not say the allegation is false,” said Liew.
“It is with deepest regret that certain irresponsible parties had twisted my written reply to suit their own agenda,” he added.
Liew’s office had also issued a statement denying that Liew in the written reply had implied the allegation by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad before the 14th General Election as false.
Last week, Bukit Gelugor MP, Ramkarpal Singh had asked the Prime Minister whether the government would be investigating the allegation that Zahid had RM230 million in cash asset, which was replied in written form and copies were made available to the media.
The de facto Law Minister’s office stated that Liew in his written reply was merely explaining the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will investigate the allegations “if there is evidence.”
“The actual written reply can be provided to anyone who wishes to confirm this,” his office said in a statement today.
Certain online news portals reported Liew as saying the allegation made by Dr Mahathir then was false.-SabahNewsToday
