KOTA KINABALU: Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Datuk Junz Wong said policies, especially development programmes, of the new government aimed to benefit more Sabahans.
In this respect, Junz called on the people to take advantage of the government programmes such as 1AZAM and Young Agropreneur.
The minister encouraged the people to participate in the 1AZAM Programme which is to assist in increasing the income of the low-income households.
“Many people are still unaware of the 1AZAM Programme, we do not want any eligible Sabahan to be left out.
Those with household income below RM1,500 in urban and RM1,000 in rural areas are encourage to register under e-Kasih so that they can be recruited for the 1AZAM programme,” he said.
Malaysian aged 18 years old and above who are interested in micro business and able to work are eligible to register as e-Kasih member in the nearest district offices.
A sum of RM15 million has been allocated to 1AZAM programme, where in the year 2017 a total of 1,264 participants have been recruited under relevant programmes, 646 among the participants had successfully increased their household monthly income up to RM300.
Under The Young Agropreneur Programme 2018, young agroprenuer can seek help from the “Young Agroprenuer Grant” which provided aids of up to RM20,000 in the form of materials and equipment.
Meanwhile “TEKUN and Agro Bank Financing” provides loan to young agroprenuer who need funds for project expansion.
TEKUN provides RM10,000 to RM50,000 financing programme while Agro Bank would provide RM50,000 and up to RM200,000 loan for qualified applicants.-SabahNewsToday
