Youths urged to diversify their skills

KOTA KINABALU: Youths are urged to increase their knowledge on courses and training programmes which they can participate to acquire new skills in various professions.

The state Minister of Resource Development and IT Technology, Datuk Siringan Gubat, said these skills will raise their marketability and meet the demand of job market especially in industrial sector.

“Cooperation and commitment from the ministries, government agencies, training centres, and education institutes in the state are needed in strengthening the skills training development,” he said in his speech for the opening ceremony for Skills Training Exhibition by the Department of Human Resource Development (JPSM) and Penampang District Office, here today.

He said, semi nar for career planning is also needed to give youths the necessary exposure on interview ethics, job hunting, and career planning to help raise their potential in acquiring employment in their desired profession.

He also advises the youths who attended the ceremony to grab the opportunities in enriching their knowledge through various services offered by training centre agencies.

Skills and expertise are not only for the youths to further their career but also to meet the demand in industries as well as improving the nation’s economy, he added. – SayangSabah
