TAWAU: A youth was reported to be injured on the back of his right shoulder after he was slashed with a machete in an incident that happened under an unnumbered house at Lorong Mat Salleh, Batu 2, Jalan Apas, around 9.45pm, last Wednesday.
The District Police Deputy Chief, Supt. Mustaffa Maarof Mustaffa, in his statement today said the 13-year-old victim has been treated as an outpatient at Tawau Hospital after he was sent by his neighbour. A police report was made the next day (12 November 2015) at 10.00am.
The incident happened when the victim who was with his friend at the time was playing a game at the staircase of the house when a man (the suspect) riding a motorcycle went directly to the victim and slashed his back.
“The victim was able to avoid the second attack of the suspect, where he then jumped away from under the house and ran straight to his neighbour’s house for help.
“The suspect then flee the area using two motorcycles, with one of it was used by his friend,” he added.
The victim, however, was unable to identify the suspect who was covering his face with a mask and a helmet.
The criminal motive of the incident is still being investigated and the case is classified under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing injury using a sharp weapon. -SayangSabah
