KOTA KINABALU – In an effort to teach children to be independent and responsible, SJK (C) Shan Tao primary school together with the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) organized a two days motivational camp for 285 pupils at the school’s ground.
The camp is aimed to instill life values and skills to enable these students to not only excel academically but to grow up to be a successful and useful human being.
During the event Deputy President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai advised the children to enjoy learning new things and to be curious to gain more knowledge.
“Keep moving forward, you don’t need to fear anything, success will come to you.”
“Don’t give up easily when you encounter difficulty or problems, instead find ways to overcome these obstacles and learn from it,’ he added.
Yee who is also the Sustainable Energy Development Authority of Malaysia (SEDA) Chairman expressed his concern that children today are growing up in an environment where they are not trained to be independent and responsible person.
He said children seldom help with the household chores anymore, as all these chores are either done by their parents or the family maid.
Hence, Yee said that by conducting the motivational camp for pupils they can experience living outside the comfort of their home, doing chores such as cooking and washing their own clothes as well as learning about team work.
He expressed his hopes that the children learned an invaluable lesson during the 2-days camp and truly appreciate life. – SayangSabah
