KOTA KINABALU: Islamic Dakwah Malaysia Foundation (YADIM) and Maswings has collaborated to hold a programme to give orphans the opportunity to experience flight service.
The 4th series of the programme were joined by Sakinah Orphanage Papar, Aman Beaufort, and Darul Bakti Kota Belud, where children under their care boarded the plane from Kota Kinabalu heading to Sandakan before visiting interesting destinations there.
Sabah Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Hajah Jainab Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Ahmad Ayid, said on behalf of YADIM that the initiative is an innovation for its dakwah strategy, and MASwings’ participation is in line with its corporate social responsibility.
“I hope that more parties especially corporate bodies will come forward in holding such programme as a platform to help those who are in need,” she said during launching the dinner night for the programme at Tabung Haji Hotel.
She also said the government has allocated RM59.24 million to fund welfare assistance and to help senior citizens, OKUs, poor communities, and orphans in the state.
The programme was held for two days and one night, with 150 children get to experience their first flight. –SayangSabah
