KOTA KINABALU: Following a report made by a complainant who said she found the body of her younger sister, the police have found a rotting body of a dead woman lying at the mangrove area near the river of Kg. Numbak, Alam Mesra.

District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra, said the police was notified by the victim’s older sister who claimed to found her sister’s body at a marsh area and a team of police personnel have been rushed to the scene to investigate the report.

“The victim’s sister also notified the police that she recognized the body based on the ankle bracelet worn by the victim,” he said.

The victim, Ula Hajul, aged 30, is an unemployed widow with five children and lived near the mangrove area. She has been away from home for six days.

Initial investigation by the police is yet to found any signs of bruises on the victim’s body and the cause of death is still being investigated.

The victim’s body has been sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 for autopsy and the case is currently classified as sudden death. -SayangSabah
