Woman injured when car caught fire

NIBONG TEBAL: A woman was injured and suffered burns when the Proton Tiara she was driving caught fire in an accident involving three
vehicles in Jalan Tasik, Simpang Ampat here today.

Seberang Perai Selatan police chief Supt Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said the woman ‘s car was said to have stopped suddenly and was hit by a lorry in the rear which caused the car to crash into another vehicle in front.

“After the collision, the car driven by the woman in her 30’s caught fire but she and two children, aged three and five, were rescued by passers-by at the location,” he said here today.

He said the woman, Nur Syazwani Abdul Halim who was injured in the back and had burns on her face and hands was sent to the Sungai Bakap Hospital.

Her two children, the lorry driver as well as the driver and passenger of the car in front were not hurt.

The Proton Tiara was 90 per cent destroyed in the 12.30 pm accident which caused a massive traffic congestion in the area. – BERNAMA
