MELAKA: Police have not found any objects or weapons used to cause the death of a 22-month-old toddler who was alleged to have been abused at his home in Pulau Sebang, Alor Gajah, near here on Monday.
Melaka CID chief ACP Kamaluddin Kassim said the Forensic Unit that searched the victim’s house on the day of the incident did not find any objects or weapons that may have been used in the case.
“Based on evidence given by the victim’s mother, the child was not abused, but we are investigating from all angles. The injury on the victim’s head may have been caused by a hard object or a fall from a high place,” he told reporters here today.
The victim, Evan Chee Xin Ci is believed to have died due to head injuries, as autopsy results showed two cracks about 12 and eight centimetres long on the skull of the victim.
Police also found fresh bruises on the forehead, arms and nose, as well as traces of old bruises on both arms and the left leg of the child.
The parents of the victim have been remanded for seven days beginning yesterday to facilitate investigations into the case.- BERNAMA
