KOTA KINABALU – The 5th Navy Day Regatta 2015 tournaments was successfully carried out for two days at Sepanggar Bay.

First Admiral, Zulhelmy Ithnain said the sailing event held in conjunction with 81st anniversary of Royal Malaysian Navy saw six races that on track during the competition with 60 participations from family of the Navy and local residents.

According to Regatta’s Head of Secretariat, Mohamad Hanif, ten categories were contested during the sailing tournament and those categories were Optimis Div A, Optimis Div B, Optimis Div C, Optimis Novice, Laser Standard, Radial, Laser 4.7, 470, 420 and Starboard Phantom 295. Zulhelmy said the event has successfully done due to the contribution of sport association.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports, Sabah Sailing Association and all sailing club have contributed tremendously to make the Regatta successful. The Universiti Malaysia Sabah also gave full cooperation during this tournament,” he said.

The Clubs that took part in the event were Pusat Perkembangan Perahu Layar Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (PPLTLDM), Sabah Sailing Association (Saila), Kinabalu Yacht Club (KYC),

Sandakan Yacht Club (SYC) and Navy Yacht Club Kota Kinabalu (NYCKK).-By Saila Saidie/Sayangsabah
