KOTA KINABALU: Wailin Randisin’s novel titled ‘Rombituon Ko Ginawo Ku’ has been announced as the winner of the 2015 KadazanDusun Language Literary Award, winning the cash prize of RM5,000, trophy, and certificate at the event held at Hakka Hall, yesterday.
Second place was won by Colestar @ Calista George Kiloh from Labuan, who received RM3,000 cash prize and certificate with the novel ‘Sundung Romou Ih Tumuru’.
‘Sumidang Mai I Tadau’, written by Blasius Binjua from Penampang, took third place to win RM2,000 cash prize and a certificate.
Seven other winners also receive their consolation prizes of RM5000 and certificate at the event, presented by Tan Sri Bernard Dompok.
The award ceremony was held to recognize the contributions of local writes in the KadazanDusun literary world.
Meanwhile, Dompok in his speech for the event calls for more frequent use of ethnic languages to ensure that they can be inherited by the future generation. – SayangSabah
