TAWAU: Women especially single mothers should improve their situation by venturing entrepreneurship and not relying on assistance given by other parties.
Sabah Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, said the industry is a must for single mothers as to help them in getting out of poverty.
He said many government and private agencies are offering entrepreneurship courses for them to get active in the sector or small time business from their homes.
Tawfiq was speaking at the Women and Family Development Council Event for Tawau parliamentary.
The Apas Assemblyperson also calls for women to take up the government’s call for them to participate in entrepreneurship with rigorous and disciplined involvement.
He said women have huge capabilities and they are known as the financial manager for their family, and they have the edge in handling a business.
“That is why I call for single mothers not to give up but instead give their best in increasing their income through business,” he added.
Also present at the programme were the Tawau Parliament Women and Family Development Council Chairperson, Datuk Rosdianah Mohd Nor, Tawau UMNO Women Vice Chief, Norsiah Bayai, and division’s committees. –SayangSabah
