KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry warns that the practice of smoking electronic cigarettes or vapes with excessive nicotine content can
cause immediate death.
Director-general of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this was based on the latest scientific studies conducted by the National Poison Centre at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which revealed that 40mg of nicotine contained in 10ml of vape liquid chemicals, can instantly kill an adult human being.
Speaking to reporters after Ops Typhoid here in Kuala Lumpur, he said vaping might also lead to addiction and deadly diseases such as lung cancer, apart from other side effects of nicotine.
Under the Poisons Act, nicotine is classified under category C, which can only be sold or supplied as a medicine or an ingredient in medicine by a
registered medical practitioner- BERNAMA
