KOTA KINABALU: Medical practitioners with talents in related professions are urged to use their skills to help poor patients who have troubles to settle their medical expenses.
“Even with a small expertise contribution, the patients will appreciate it,” said the state Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid.
She gave her statement in her speech for the opening ceremony for Chinese New Year celebration at Women and Children Hosptal, Likas, which was organized by Kepayan Chinese Women Organization and MCA Kota Kinabalu Division, last Saturday.
While every hospital have established their own welfare centre, their roles are different from the outside organizations especially when it comes to medical costs.
“Sabah General Welfare Services Department (JPKA) has contribute in many medical costs for poor patients, in and outside the country,” she added.
She also commended the hospital departments for managing patients which requires JPKA donations.
About 250 child patients were entertained by cartoon mascot, lion dance, and other various activities at the celebration.
Also present was KPMHEP Permanent Secretary, Datuk Siti Sapoo Ahok, Likas Women and Children Hospital Director, Dr. Tan Bee Hwai, MCA Women Chief, Datuk Agnes Shim, organizer chairman, Dr. Pamela Wong, and volunteers. – SayangSabah
