KOTA KINABALU – The winner of Harvest Festival Beauty pageant 2014, Cheryl Lyn Pinsius,22, was awarded a scholarship of RM 20 000 from Asian Tourism International (ATI) College to pursue her study there.
She signed an agreement with ATI College today and will be continuing her study in Diploma of Pastry Art, this year.
“I like pastry and it has been my ambition to open a business in pastry, one day. I’m so thankful for this opportunity given by Datuk Wong Khen Thau,” she said.
On the beauty pageant, she said teenagers who want to join the competition should join Unduk Ngadau as it represents Sabah culture and this beautiful heritage could be perpetuated.
“Winning or losing is not the main thrust of the competition; the main point is to support our Sabah’s beautiful culture,” she added.
According to ATI College’s chief executive, Datuk Wong Khen Thau, Unduk Ngadau is a role model to youth and they should act accordingly while disseminating awareness on the importance of cultural and traditional norms to youth out there.
“We are giving a scholarship of over RM 20 000 to the Unduk Ngadau state winner to pursue their study in ATI as they are symbols of Sabah’s beautiful culture,” he said, adding that the heritage must be persevered for the next generation.
He said ATI College has been awarding scholarships to the state winner of Unduk Ngadau since the start of its business operation.
