POLIS 13

KENINGAU: Negative social influence and lack of parental guidance are the cause for the increase in rape cases involving under-aged teenagers in the district, with seven cases reported in the first three month of this year, compared to three cases in the previous year.

District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Douglas Taong, said from January to 24 March, 30 various cases have also been reported in the district, with 14 cases (46.66 percent) are now solved. 36 cases were recorded for the same period last year.

“The police also arrested 133 drug offenders this year, higher than last year’s arrest of 90 individuals. It is a success for the police authority when three of the arrests are now solved, which were investigated under Section 39B Dangerous Drugs Act ADB 1952,” he told reporters at the District Level 208th Police Commemoration Day, here today.

Douglas said, in the effort to fight crimes, about 371 operations have been launched by the police, inspecting 1,968 individuals and 1,331 vehicles, leading to the arrests of 71 individuals for various offences. – SayangSabah
