KOTA KINABALU – Skim Latihan 1Malaysia (SL1M) was held in University Malaysia Sabah (UMS), today.
According to Head of SL1M Secretriat Norashikin Datuk Ismail, the two days event accorded by UMS to them was to enable graduates and interested individuals to sign up for interviews.
The interviews were for potential employments with AEGIS BPO Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Malaysia Airlines System Berhad (MAS), Labuan Financial Services Authority (LFSA), Sri Cempaka School and Nescorp Prima Sdn Bhd.
Meanwhile, for diploma and STPM they would have an opportunity to work with QSR Brands (KFC), Innovatory Furniture Sdn Bhd and Sabah Institute of Art.
Some 1500 graduates and school leavers applied for 600 vacancies offered by these ten companies from Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.
The ten companies offering job opportunities were for applicants of school leavers at SPM level, STPM level, diploma and degree graduates.
Only two companies opened a job for SPM level mainly Gain Forlife Academy and Pacific Foremost Sdn Bhd.
“SL1M had helped 45000 unemployed graduates in the past four years and 130 companies all over Malaysia have participated in reaching out to the unemployed graduates. I hope the state government and potential employers in Sabah will offer sponsorship to SL1M, so this Outreach programme can be held in all districts,” Norashikin said.
She emphasised that SL1M welfare programme under the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department.
“Business establishments willing to cooperate with SL1M will be given double tax deduction incentives. This is because they provide expenses on soft-skill training of participants worth not less than RM 5000 for each person. They will also utilise funds from Human Resources Development Levy in order to train the SL1M student.”- Saila Saidie/Sayangsabah
