KOTA KINABALU: UMS is holding the 5th International Chemical and Bioprocess Engineerg (ICCBPE) Conference for four days, beginning yesterday until this 12 December.
The conference, themed From Earth for the Earth, will also discuss on four main issues including technology uses in the oil and gas industry, waste management, bio-economy, and energy consumption.
Deputy Chief Minister cum Sabah Minister of Industrial Development, Datuk Seri Panglima Raymond Tan Shu Kiah, said researches that have been done should be utilized to enhance the current technology and help in changing lives and economic landscape in Sabah.
“The ministry has cooperates with UMS to use available resources in the state to develop human resource and increase basic knowledge for industries in Sabah such as the oil and gas, and palm oil industries,” he said.
His text speech was delivered by the CEO of SIpitang Oil and Gas Development Corporation Sdn Bhd,Tuan Abdul Kadir Haji Abdullah @ OKK Hj Damsal, during the launching of ICCBPE, at Pacific Sutera.
While Malaysia has enough resources for oil, gas, and palm oil, he said the chemical engineering sector has been lacking in introducing new methods and technology to process these valuable resources in the state. –SayangSabah
