KEDAH – The University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Student Representative Council participate in the ASEAN University Youth Summit in conjunction with the ASEAN Summit that was hosted by Malaysia this year.
The programme held at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in Kedah ends yesterday.
UMS Student Representative Council delegation lead by its President Mohd Farid Abraham in a statement said the programme focused on the effort of ASEAN countries to spearhead students mobility in volunteerism aspects.
“It is a fruitful exposure for us especially when we have the opportunity to exchange our views on issues and ideas in volunteer activities,” he said.
Fifty universities across ASEAN took part in the programme; Malaysia was represented by UMS, University Sains Islam Malaysia and Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS) or the Undergraduate Volunteer Foundation.
Farid stated that the input from the programme would give an impact to the development of volunteerism among university students.
The event was officiated by Kedah Menteri Besar Dato Seri Mukhriz Mahathir. – SayangSabah
