RANAU: UMS Rural Education Research Unit (UPPLB) with the cooperation of Ranau Education Office and Community Development Unit (UPPM) have organized the Karagasan Outreach Programme , themed ‘Scaling Up Education in Community’, facilitated by postgraduates of UMS Curriculum and Education for four days.
The programme director, Lydia Kimsin, said the programme received 24 Master students in Education who became its facilitator for its 70 participants consisting of pupils from SK Karagasan and local communities from the village.
She said the programme’s objective is to expose postgraduate students on planning and handling community-based projects.
At the same time, she said the programme is beneficial in motivating children to learn English, Science, and Mathematic using education modules that are designed by UMS postgraduates.
“The programme is also assisted by volunteers from Sabah Concern Citizen Association (CCA-SUEC) and officers from Mara Skills Institute (IKM) who shared their experience with youths and local communities about opportunities to take courses in IKM. –SayangSabah
