MEMBAKUT: UMNO of Kimanis division has outlined two priorities for the party in strengthening their position in the district as a preparation for the next General Election (GE14).
Its Vice Chief, Datuk Ariffin Mohd Arif, said the efforts are to step up its members registration as voters and increase the party’s membership in the district.
“Currently there are 2,000 UMNO members in this area who are qualified to be registered as voters. The division UMNO Puteri will take charge through various programmes to carry out these priorities.
“This initiatives will also get the help from other UMNO divisions, including the collaboration with grassroot leaders in the area. For now there are 300 individuals registered as Youth and Puteri member, and we aim for at least 500 new membership this year,” he said after officiating the closing ceremony for UMNO membership and Voters Registration Workshop, here today.
Ariffin, who is also the Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister Department, said the total membership of UMO Kimanis division are more than 13,000, with 262 UMNO branches in Membakut and 142 in Bongawan. – SayangSabah
