KOTA KINABALU: Two tourism companies in the state have received the Tourism inSPIRE award during an event held by the Philippines Tourism Promotion Board, recently.
Sabah Tourism Board Chairperson, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, said recipients of the award are companies operated by Sabah-born individuals, the Sukau Rainforest Lodge, and Borneo Rainforest Lodge.
“As the representative of the state government and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, I am proud with the achievement.
“This shows that the state tourism sector is on par with similar sector in other countries in the world,” he said to the media at the State Tourism Board office, this evening.
Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) presented six awards for the Tourism inspire category during the PATA New Tourism Frontiers 2015 Forum, held in 27 November in Legazpi, Albay, Philippines, with Sabah taking home two of the awards.
Sukau Rainforest Lodge also received the Best Independent Accommodation award, and Borneo Rainforest Lodge took the Best Responsible Tourism Destination.
Also present during the press conference were Borneo Eco Tours General Manager, Baton Bijamin, Assistant General Manager, Susan Soong, Borneo Nature Tours Manager, George Hong, and two administration personnel of Borneo Nature Tours, Gavin Sham, and Henry Llamas. -SayangSabah
