Two foreign women pleaded guilty to giving sex service


KOTA KINABALU: Two foreign women were fined with RM4,500 each or face three months jail term after admitting guilty to prostituting.

Dewi Sartika Bachtiar, 23, an Indonesian, and Miss Weeranut Kingprompu, 29, from Thailand, were tried in front of Magistrate Mohd Faiz Omar, where they admitted to commit the offense inside a hotel room at Lintas View Hotel, Jalan Lintas, at 11.00pm, 27 October ago.

Both of them are charged under Section 372B of the Penal Code which carries the punishment of one year jail, a fine, or both, if found guilty.

At about 10.30pm, the police received information about prostitution carried out at two different rooms at the premise.

Based on initial investigation, Dewi admitted to be the tenant of the room with another female friend, who was inside with a costumer while she waited outside.

At 11.00pm, the police knocked the door and it was opened by a man while the woman, Miss Weeranut, was sitting on the bed inside the room.

The man admitted to have received sex service from the accused with the charge of RM500.

The police also found six packs of Playboy condoms inside a small drawer and RM500 cash held by the accused.

Lawyer PJ Perira, who represented both of them applied for them not to be jailed since they wish to return to their home countries as soon as possible.

Both of them are ordered to be sent to their home countries after settling their fines or complete their sentences. Tuan Jakariya Jupakkal prosecuted. -SayangSabah
