KOTA KINABALU: Two foreign women was sentenced to four months jail by the Sessions Court for illegally entering the country.
Mindah Sama, 50, committed the crime at Inanam Point 14 January ago, while Nursahaya Hassan, 26, was caught at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman in 16 January.
Both of them were charged under Section 691)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 which carries the punishment of up to RM10,000 fine, five years jail maximum, or both with caning.
Representing Mindah was her defense attorney, Aida Jaafar, who applied for a lighter sentence.
Nursahaya who was unrepresented also applied for minimum punishment since she is a single mother and need to care for her child.
The court ordered for both of them to be referred to the Immigration Department upon the completion of their jail sentence. -SayangSabah
