KOTA KINABALU: A local man was sentenced to twelve months jail by the Magistrate Court today for stealing motorcycle.
The accused, Hainezaem Aideh, pleaded guilty to committing the offense in front of Red One store in Putatan, in 21 November, around 1.00am.
He was charged under Section 379A of the Penal Code which carries a punishment of one to seven years jail, or a fine.
The victim had parked his motorcycle at the area as he wanted to go the city centre in his friend’s car.
At about 5.00am, however, upon his return he realised that his motorcycle was missing, convinced that his Honda Ex-5 motorcycle has been stolen by an unidentified suspect.
Fortunately a CCTV circuit at a nearby shop managed to record the crime committed by the suspect and his friends.
In mitigation, the accused pleaded for a lighter sentence since it is his first criminal charge.
