KUALA LUMPUR: A special concert to pay tribute to legendary singer Tan Sri SM Salim will be held at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Auditorium on March 12.
Popular local artistes lined up for the concert include Datuk DJ Dave, Datuk M.Nasir, Datuk A.Rahman Hassan, Datuk Ramli Sarip, Datuk Yusni Hamid, Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim, Datuk Andre Goh and Zur Eda.
The concert organised by Yayasan Artis 1Malaysia (YA1M) will also feature Noraniza Idris, Ezad Lazim, Zahid AF, Usop Kopratasa, Raihan, Hasmidar, Bob Yusof, Alyah, Haziq and Syafinaz Selamat.
YA1M chairman Datuk Irwan Shah Abdullah who is also known as DJ Dave said the ‘Tribute To Living Legend – Tan Sri SM Salim’ concert would be free of charge but corporate bodies, fellow artistes and individuals were encouraged to donate in aid of YA1M fund.
“As a body established to protect artistes’ welfare in their sunset years proceeds from this concert would be channeled to YA1M welfare fund to help fellow artistes who are in need,” he said.
According to Dave there was a possibility similar concerts would be held in future to give recognition to more veteran artistes.
“Tan Sri SM Salim is the best example of an accomplished artiste who had worked closely with artistes of different eras and generations. It is only fair that we honour him through this concert,” he said.
YA1M vice-president cum concert producer, M. Nasir said the artistes selected for the concert were those deemed suitable to deliver songs by the Malay legendary 70’s singer.
