KOTA KINABALU: Some 31 Pol 257 and 170A summonses were issued for various traffic offense during the Ops Samseng Jalanan launched at Jalan Coastal, Imago, Jalan Kepayan, Jalan Sulaman, and Jalan Lintas – Luyang, early this morning.

The operation carried out by 2 officers and 11 personnel also seized 29 motorcycles and arrested two men aged 21 and 19 years old.

District Police Chief, ACP M. Chandra, said all the arrested will be charged under Section 42 of the Road Transportation Act 1987 for reckless driving, Section 108 of the same act for using fake registration plate, and Section 60 of the same act which gives police the authority to seize vehicles under suspicion of repeated traffic offense.

“While traffic offenders in Kota Kinabalu have been decreasing and under control, a continuous monitoring is still needed to prevent it from getting out of hand,” he said. -SayangSabah
