KOTA KINABALU: Traders who raise the price of goods will be prosecuted under 10 acts set by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism.
Sabah Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid said they should be wary of acts other than price control and anti-profiteering.
“One item may be penalised under 10 acts to serve as a lesson so that traders do not raise prices, display misleading prices and misleading names,”
she told reporters after launching the price control scheme for Deepavali in Menggatal, today.
Jainab said consumers, especially those in rural areas, should report unreasonable price increase to enable the authorities to carry out monitoring.
