SEPANGGAR – Ship USS Comstock (LSD 45 ) is visiting Sabah for the fifth time, and is presently docked at the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) base in Teluk Sepanggar.
The port visit started on Jan 22 followed by several events jointly conducted by TLDM in collaboration with the USS Comstock crew here.
Navy crews and personnel from all across Malaysia participated in the joint activities gaining knowledge and enhancing their know-how on the ship’s combat systems, engineering systems, flight deck and other ship equipment.
Scott T. Tasin, the commanding officer of Comstock shared that he was fascinated with the warm welcome accorded to him and his sailors as well as marines who had learnt a lot of Malaysia culture.
“I believe the crews are excited with the visit and enjoyed the various ports we have docked at. We have enjoyed the series of tour such as white water rafting, mountain hiking and learned a lot about our host country,” he stated.
“I’m really proud that this ship is 25 years old as it has gone through a lot. We maintain it well and it doesn’t look its age,” he said.
