Three men face trial for causing injury

KOTA KINABALU: A local man maintained his plea of not guilty at the Sessions Court, today, for the charge of injuring two senior citizens with a machete.

Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad set 12 and 13 May this year for the case mention.

Mohd Nazif Rinjal, 30, denied the charge where he allegedly injured Abdurait Husin, 70, and Abdul Sabtu, 62, at Tanah Rizab Kerajaan, near Kg. Suagon, Kinarut, Papar, around 10.00am in 21 November last year.

He was charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code which carries the punishment of up to twenty years jail, with possible fine or caning, if found guilty.

The same court also set 11 and 12 April for the next mention for a case involving the two senior citizens.

The date was set after Abdurait Husin and Abdul Sabtu maintained their not guilty pleas for the same charge.

Both of them were charged together after causing injury to Nazif at the same location and time.

The court also ordered for the case against Abdurait and Abdul to be brought before Judge Dean Wayne Daly due to its similarity.

Vice Prosecutor Akmalzatul Mohamed Nawi prosecuted both cases. -SayangSabah
