TAWAU: Three eateries are ordered to close down for failing to meet cleanliness requirements in accordance to Section 10 of 1983 Food Act.
During the Ops Basmi Siri 3, launched at Hill Top, here today Tawau Environmental Health Officer, Rahman Sampe said, the owners are given 14 days to clean their premises,
“In the operation, two compounds were also issued to two of the owners under Reg. 2.11 (1)(a) which is read together with Reg.29 and Food Hygiene Regulations 2009, for failing to register their premise to the Malaysia Health Ministry (KKM),” he said.
The operations which started at 10am, involved 15 personnels from the Environmental Health Unit, who examined 18 premises.
Rahman called on all food operators in the district to prioritize cleanliness in their premises and to obey sanitary regulations and to make sure their employees to have food handling certificate.
“Food operators are also obligated to register their businesses to KKM to avoid legal actions,” he added. – SayangSabah
