KOTA KINABALU – Do you have what it takes to become the next superstar? If you do then join the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) that offers aspiring stars from around the world the chance to come to Hollywood and compete in the international arena.

Dancers, singers, models, actors, musicians and variety acts from more than 50 countries across the globe will compete in an Olympic style competition over the course of a week.

In Sabah for the first time an official audition will be held on the March 14 to 15 at Sabah Institute of Arts (SIA) in KK Times Square.
If you are a Malaysian, 15-year-old and above and talented all you have to do is just sign-up for the audition with the admission of RM90 per person. For groups the maximum requirement is six persons.

The winner will bring home a medal and RM500,000 worth of scholarship.

According to the Advisor for Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu Sabah (SPArKS) Cheong Kok Ann the audition is the best platform for local artists and performers in Sabah.

“We can’t deny the facts that we have a lot of amazing talent in Sabah. I believe that the state’s budding talents should be promoted and developed,” he said to reporters during the press conference at SIA KK Times Square, here today.

SPArKS together with SIA and Sri Pelancongan Sabah are the official organizer for the event.

In 2010, Sabah very own local talent Rhythm of Borneo won the gold medal under group category with their unique sound of ‘Gongs’ and ‘Kulingtangan’.

After the competition, the band have been actively featuring themselves in big shows such as the Rainforests World Music Festival.
Last year, Malaysia won 53 medals with 15 of them are gold. The competition was held in Hollywood, Unites States from July 11 until July 19.

The Zeppo Youngsterz Crew secured four gold in the group dance category while Faris Azim, a gold in the solo dance category.
Rehana Mohd Yunus and Nurul Aina Abd Ghani won five and three gold respectively, while Alif Kadim and Dewi Liana Seriestha, one gold each, in the singing competition.
