KOTA KINABALU – Great news for music lovers out there! Kota Kinabalu will once again be delighted by a spectacular musical event, known as the North Borneo Jungle Music Festival on this coming April, 25 from 12 noon to 12 midnight.
The musical event, which will be making its debut this year, is a 12-hour non-stop music festival that features an impressive lineup of local and international DJs and entertainers, set amidst the lush jungle backdrop of the Monsopiad Cultural Village.
According to the Organizing Chairman of the event, Papi Johntoy John, otherwise known as DJ Johntoy, the event is meant to showcase local musical talents as well as the beauty of the north Bornean jungle.
“We are expecting around 1000 spectators throughout the 12-hour event. We hope more of the locals will be able to enjoy the live music extravaganza,” he said.
Papi added that they are also targeting foreign tourists, hence, the collaboration with Sutera Harbour Hotel.
Yeow Hock Siew, the General Manager of Pacific Sutera Hotel applauds the initiative by Jonathan saying that there should be more events like these catered for music lovers in Sabah.
“So far, we have the annual KK Jazz Festival and the Sunset Music Fest at the Tip of Borneo. To enjoy more, people would typically have to travel outside the state. This is a terrific opportunity for music lovers both local and international to enjoy more of what Sabah has to offer,” he said.
The event targets tourists from across South East Asia such as Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia and more.
The North Borneo Jungle Music Festival will be featuring local acts such as Fingerstyle, Joe Balanjiu Jr., Appy Tots, Octavius Band, Amir Yussof, as well as DJs such as DJ Rahul from Kuala Lumpur and DJ Jan Hartwig from Germany.
