KOTA KINABALU: Thalassemia patients are urged to benefit from advisory services in medical preparation, psychology, emotional support, financial, and activities provided for them.
Chairman of Sandakan Thalassemia Association, Ismail Mohd Yusof. Said the organization is a support group consisting of Thalassaemia patients, parents, hospital personnels, and volunteers which operate in Hospital Duchess of Kent, Sandakan.
According to him, those who are involved in creating awareness among the patients and public on Thalassemia, its genetic implications, and treatment management.
“As of now, we have 269 members and 169 registered patients in Sandakan,” he said when met after visiting the governor of Sabah, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin in Istana Negeri, Kota Kinabalu, here today.
Ismail said, the visitation is to introduce the organization which was founded in 16 October 2004, and seeking the consent of Tun Juhar Mahiruddin to become its patron.
Meanwhile, Tun Juhar also received an honorary visitation from Malaysia Red Crescent Association (PBSM) of Sabah, led by its chairman, Asirin Abdul Kadir.
The visitation is to brief Tun Juhar Mahiruddin regarding on the 10 kilometres PBSM Charity Run which will be held on 29 March. – SayangSabah
