BEAUFORT: Attempts by certain quarters in utilizing various tactics including the social media to influence the youths to become agents to disrupt public harmony must be tackled.
Sipitang MP, Datuk Sapawi Ahmad, wants the issue to be handled through religious programmes to prevent the youths from being manipulated by certain parties.
“Religious programmes will encourage the young generation to think positive and able to mould good characters. It is important to make the youths close to religion,” he said during the Ramadan Visit programme at Kg. Suasa Mosque.
Sapawi said youth leaders should not focus only on programmes or social activities, and they must strengthen the youths’ affiliation with religious programmes.
He explained that youth-based organizations need to put a solid foundation in their members through religious values in their activities.
He also said that youths today are facing many challenges and become the target of certain quarters to raise provocation in the country.
At the event, Sapawi also presented donations for 51 senior citizens and 25 disabled individuals (OKU) from the Lower Interior Ministry of Youth and Sports and Lower Interior Combined Youth. – SayangSabah
