KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has lauded the roles played by the Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association (SWEPA) in strengthening women professionalism and business ventures in the state.
He said, SWEPA had played its role effectively not only in promoting the rights of women in business but also in contributing to the economy.
“SWEPA is also a platform for young and budding entrepreneurs to learn from those who have been in the business line for many years. It is also an accessible platform for members to make their voices heard,
particularly about the challenges they face and suggestions that they may have,” he said in his speech at SWEPA installation and charity gala dinner 2015, here tonight.
The text of his speech was read out by State Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Masidi Manjun.
Musa also expressed hope that SWEPA would continue to reach out to more women to join the association.
Meanwhile, the chief minister said he was also happy that SWEPA had continued supporting the state government’s development agenda and long term plans.
“SWEPA has constantly provided feedback to the government on the inclusion of women in decision-making roles, and you have also given ideas on how the government can improve certain aspects related to the well-being of women. It is my hope that the relevant department and agencies will make an effort to foster closer ties with SWEPA, hence harnessing resources towards developing the state and nation and improving the quality of life in the process,” he added. – BERNAMA
