KENINGAU: A local man which is suspected to rape a female student at a hotel in Keningau town has been found and arrested by police authority at his house in Nabawan, around 5.50pm yesterday.
District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Douglas Taong, said the suspect aged 17 years old was arrested thanks to information from the public due to the report made by the victim’s mother on 4 March ago.
“Suspect is now remanded for further investigation under Section 476 of the Penal Code which carries the punishment of maximum 20 years imprisonment and caning, if found guilty,” he said, here today.
In the report, the victim told her mother that she had been raped on 22 February at 1.00pm by his male friend twice at a hotel in Keningau town.
He said that the 16 years old victim is a secondary school student in one of the school in the district. – SayangSabah
