TAWAU: A Sabah assistant minister today called on the people to maintain their support for the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his new Cabinet.
Datuk Hamisa Samat, assistant minister of resource development and information technology, said reshuffling the Cabinet was a normal practice and it was the prerogative of the prime minister.
Last Tuesday, Najib, in a Cabinet reshuffle, replaced Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin with Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the deputy prime minister.
He also dropped four other ministers and appointed seven new ones, saying he needed a solid and unified team moving in the same direction to deliver for Malaysia.
Hamisa said the appointment of Ahmad Zahid as the deputy prime minister provided for a strong partnership for the implementation of more transformation for national development.
She spoke after a meeting with soldiers at the Kampung Kalabakan control post near here. – BERNAMA
