JOHOR BAHARU: The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah visited the grave of their son, the late Tunku Laksamana Johor, Tunku Abdul Jalil, at Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum, here, today.
Sultan Ibrahim who was accompanied by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and State Public Works, Rural and Regional Development Committee chairman Datuk Hasni Mohammad arrived at the mausoleum at 9 am to recite the Yassin and pour scented water on the grave.
Later, Raja Zarith Sofiah who was accompanied by Tunku Putera Johor, Tunku Abu Bakar and members of the Perak and Selangor royal families, also visited Tunku Abdul Jalil’s grave.
They arrived at 2.45 pm and recited the Yassin led by Johor mufti Datuk Tahrir Samsudin before leaving 30 minutes later.
Tunku Puteri Johor, Tunku Tun Aminah and other members of the Johor royal family visited the grave at 4.30 pm.
Meanwhile, the public continued to pay their last respects to Tunku Abdul Jalil by visiting his grave since morning.
Trader Muhmad Tazudin Sukor, 38, from Kampung Sungai Tiram, here, came with his wife, Noorasliyati Sukaiman, 38, and several family members.
“I have never met him, but I always hear about his kindness and friendliness, especially with the cancer patients at Sultanah Aminah Hospital,” he said.
Muhmad Tazudin said he had kept abreast of news on Tunku Abdul Jalil through the social media and felt that he was warm and friendly towards the people.
Tunku Abdul Jalil, 25, died of cancer at 7.11 pm last Saturday at Sultanah Aminah Hospital, here.
