KOTA KINABALU: The diverse communities in Sabah must subscribe to positive values in society in order to maintain unity and harmony. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said such practice enabled communities
here to share their culture with one another in the spirit of friendship and unity.
“As we are aware, the community in Sabah is made up of people from a range of ethnic groups, faiths and culture, apart from also being diverse in terms of their background.
“It is crucial for us all to subscribe to and practice these positive values in society,” he said at the opening of the Chinese New Year Carnival at Lintasan Deasoka, here tonight.
The text of his speech was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
Musa was happy to note that the carnival held in the past years had attracted the presence of other communities other than the Chinese.
He said the carnival was an avenue to promote social harmony, tolerance and goodwill among the people.
“I believe carnivals and events such as this one will further cement friendships and the spirit of unity among the people of Sabah, and that we will all prosper together,” he said. – BERNAMA
