SEMPORNA: Students under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) scholarship in or outside the country are reminded not to be involved with any IS militant activities.
Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Seri Mohd. Shafie Apdal, said students can do many other things to upholding the name and developing the economy for Islam.
“Students must focus on their education and not to be involved with any activities labeled as jihad, but in truth not following the true teaching of Islam. Religion never permits murder,” he told reporters after the Program Gotong-Royong Sekolah Agama Negeri (SAN) Pekan Semporna, here today.
His statement is a response to the recent arrest of a 14 years old student at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), believed to be on her way to Syria to join the militants.
Shafie also presented donations from Parliament of 20 sets of coffins,  a facility to wash the deceased, and also 600 kit sets for preparing the deceased, worth of RM280,000 for Semporna constituent. Mimbar equipments and a school bus are also given to the mosques in the three DUN in Semporna.
According to him, IS crimes need to be condemned and opposed because the group’s actions clearly not in line with the religious context.
MARA will monitor its students to prevent them from being involved with the militant group, he said. – SayangSabah
