KOTA KINABALU: Some 100 students from primary and secondary schools receive RM250 vouchers as a preparation for their next school session.
Sabah Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Jainab Ahmad, said every student with the voucher are free to buy their school necessities and equipment at Giant supermarket in 1Borneo shopping complex.
“The back-to-school programme is a collaboration between Credit Guarantee Corporation, Zakat, Giat Mara, UMNO Sepanggar, Giant 1Borneo, and UPPM Sepanggar.
“This an initiative to help those who don’t have enough for preparing for the upcoming school session,” she said when met by the media today.
RM25,000 were contributed by Zakat and CGC for the students.
Jainab also advises parents to be a responsible consumers when buying school necessities for their children.
She said they should identify what are needed by their children before actually buying them.
“There are school equipments that we provide for free for pupils, such as schoes, uniforms, milks,and stationery.
“List up items that need to be bought in order to prevent wastage, and only buy the essentials,” she added.
Jainab also want parents to care for the safety of their children during the school term, especially when natural disaster such as earthquake or flood occurs. -SayangSabah
