KUALA LUMPUR: Strong winds and rough seas over waters off the east coast states, Sarawak and Sabah are expected to persist from Tuesday (Feb 2) until Saturday (Feb 6).

The affected areas are Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, east Johor, Sarawak, Labuan, Kudat and the west coast and interior of Sabah, the Malaysian Meteorological Services Department stated in a statement here, today.

It said strong northeasterly winds of 40 to 50 kmph and waves of up 3.5 metres high are also expected to occur over the areas.

“This condition of strong winds and rough seas is dangerous to all shipping and coastal activities, including fishing boats and ferry services,” said the statement.

Similar weather conditions are expected to occur over Samui, Tioman, Bunguran, Layang-Layang, Reef South, Kuching, Palawan and Labuan over the same period.

Meanwhile, in Condore and Reef North, similar weather conditions are also  expected from Monday (Feb 1) until Saturday, it said.

The sea level is also expected to rise in the coastal areas of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and east Johor until Thursday. – BERNAMA
