TAWAU: The government through various agencies always strives to prepare strategic planning for youth development initiatives in the state, said Sabah Resource Development and Information Technology assistant minister Datuk Hamisa Samat.
She said the initiatives comprised various programmes including skills and entrepreneurship, efforts to stimulate the economy, measures to curb social ills, outreach services, facilities and support to empower the group.
“However the success and excellence of the youths do not depend on the efforts of the government alone, this group should have the spirit and a greater awareness of the need for change in order for them to succeed,” she said at the certificate presentation and closing ceremony of the Youth Mind Transformation Camp here, last night.
Hamisa, who is also Tanjung Batu state assemblyman, said the state government was always committed in diversifying the space and opportunity to youths, including by providing allocation and a comprehensive development policy.
Commenting on the camp, she said through such programme, youths could gain a better understanding about entrepreneurship.
The programme under the auspices of the Sabah Job Centre and the Sabah Resource Development and Information Technology Ministry was held for three days and was participated by 53 youths from Tawau.- BERNAMA
