LABUAN: Police have detained a husband and wife and two others on suspicion of involvement in the theft of 20 television sets worth more than RM10,000 from a hotel here.
Labuan police chief Supt Adzhar Othman said the suspects were nabbed following a report by the human resource manager of a hotel here on Dec 9.
He said the husband aged 27, an ex-staff of the hotel and his wife aged 31, were believed to have masterminded the theft.
“The couple were arrested at an unnumbered house at Kg Bukit Kuda on Dec 12, between 10 pm and 12 am,” he told reporters here today.
He said a 17-year-old girl and a 34-year-old man who were the couple’s alleged accomplices were nabbed on Dec 12 and 14 at Kg Pohon Batu and Kg Ganggarak respectively.
“Their arrest led to the recovery of 14 of the 20 television sets. Investigations found that the suspects had sold the stolen goods via a local online shopping platform,” he said.
Meanwhile, police are tracking down a 25-year-old man in connection with the theft of three boat engines worth more than RM100,000.
Adzhar said three men were questioned after the owner, an angler lodged a police report on Dec 5 that the engines were missing from his storeroom at Kg Lubok Temiang.
