KUALA LUMPUR: A former cashier told the Magistrate’s Court here that she stole items from her work place because she was not happy with her employer for not giving her a pay rise and commission.
“I was not happy with the company. I had worked there for a long, but my salary was reduced, there was no commission and my salary was not increased,” said Siti Harmoni Mohamed Noor, 25, when asked by Magistrate Muhamad Faizal Ismail on why she committed the crime.
However, the woman, who has a child, was silent when Muhamad Faizal asked whether what she did was worth the trouble she was in now.
Advising the woman to think before taking any action and to never commit the offence again, Muhamad Faizal then sentenced her to a one-day jail and RM300 fine, in default three days’ jail.
He handed down the sentence after Siti Harmoni pleaded guilty to stealing children’s shoes and clothing, worth RM264, from a clothing store on the 1st Floor of the Mid Valley shopping mall here at 7 pm last Feb 18.
