KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah State Railway Department has performed satisfactorily, according to the Auditor General’s Report 2014.
Nevertheless, the report listed a number of measures for the department’s management to take, to overcome certain weaknesses.
Among the measures are to minimise the frequency of service cancellations which had affected the daily routine of the residents, and utilisation of the
RM3 million machinery workshop and Electronic Ticketing System (ETC).
The report stated that from 2012 till 2014, train passengers in Sabah totaled 1,867,676.
In 2012, service cancellations occurred in January, February, April, July and September involving between 0.1 and 2.7 per cent, which was still below the monthly 5 per cent stated in the department’s pledge to clients.
The report said in 2013 and 2014, service cancellations occurred every month; in 2013 the percentage was more than five per cent but only involving
January, at 11.8 per cent and March at 12.9 per cent.- BERNAMA
