KOTA KINABALU: The government to should start a flood mitigation project in areas where flood is common, including Bongawan State Assemblyman (ADUN), Mohammad Alamin said today.

Mohammad calls for all related government departments and agencies to do holistic researches to find short-term and long-term solutions in dealing with flood issues especially in Bongawan.

Mohammad said, a thorough research is crucial in determining proper mitigation project for the rivers in areas prone for flood.

It has to be conducted in details to make sure flood problem can be overcome and this is also stressed by the Prime Minister, to give priority on flood mitigation project this year and the coming year.

I have asked for the Papar district (authority) especially DUN Bongawan to send suggestion in respect of the flood mitigation project. For this matter, I have ordered Papar District Officer,” he said.

Regarding on the donation, he said that it is a sign of CIS compassion to help the flood victims.

I welcome the efforts done by the company (GLC) CIS and I hope for more GLCs to come forward to help the flood victims and other disadvantaged communities.

“I am happy because there are many GLCs came forward to help the flood victims especially in Bongawan area, such as Bernas, DPMM, BTC, Petronas and other NGOs,” he said. – SayangSabah
