SAP’s Manager, Osman Marjuki said last year the tournament attracted 200 anglers in the State  and they are expecting 500 anglers to take part this year.

He said the registration will be held at SAP’s arrival hall and open to participants from March 27 until 11am on March 28 with a fee of RM50 charge.

“ We are giving free admission into the park for participants, however, fee will be charged to their family and friends. We are charging SAP’s visitor fee at RM10 for adult and RM5 for children,” he added.

The competition is open to everyone aged of 12 onward and they are restricted to use their own hooks, restricted to three with one fishing rod, said Osman.

“The winner stands to win RM5000, while the first runner-up will grab RM 3000 and the second runner-up, RM2000.”

Meanwhile, consolation prizes will be given to fourth place until 24th place, he said, adding that catch weighing 300 grammes will be qualified.

“Jury will only do calculation on caught fish that weigh 300 gram and above,” he added.

The competition will be held in SAP’s Rundum Lake which is seven acres wide and contain over 10,000 fresh water fish with various species,  said its SAP’s Research Officer, Jain Linton.

“We have farm-raised five to six of fish species in the lake such as Tilapia, Grass Cap, Patin, Silver Catfish and many more.  Visitors and participants of sport fishing will get the chance to see different types of fresh water fish that we have in the lake,” he said.
